BOY SCOUT PROGRAM

The Cob Scout Program has 10 purposes related to the overall mission of the Boy Scouts of America - to build character, learn citizenship, and develop personal fitness:

Character Development, Spiritual Growth, Good Citizenship, sportsmanship and Fitness, Family Understanding

Respectful Relationships, Personal Achievement, Friendly Service, Fun and Adventure, Preparation for Boy Scouts


Meeting Dates

Troop & Pack 213 Meet each 2nd and 4th Sunday beginning at 1:15pm and ending at 2:30 pm

We meet in the Youth Chapel located next to Historic Ebenezer on Auburn Ave in Room 200

Volunteer Needs

We need adult leaders to help mainly with our Cub Scout Program which will be our largest program. You must be at least 21 years old and be willing to submit to a background check. Positions currently open are : 1 Committee Chairman- oversees program and assist with planning yearly program.  4 Den Leaders ( Tiger, Wolf, Bear, Webelos ) Den leaders direct a group of 4-7 boys in grades 1-5 on the monthly themed program, training is provided and instructions on the best ways to deliver the monthly program theme are provided.

Merit Badge Counselors - Give council and oversees the merit badge process for a scout that desires to learn more about that subject. We need the following adults with expertise or a thorough knowledge of the following subjects : First Aid, Swimming, Environmental Science, Citizenship in the World, Citizenship in the Nation, Citizenship in the Community, Communications, Personal Management ( Money Management ) Family Life, Cooking, Emergency Preparedness, and Personal Fitness. These are the required merit badges a scout must earn to reach the highest level of recognition in Boy Scouting - The Rank of Eagle Scout. Your help is needed and wanted. 


Popcorn Kernel- Cub Scouts

Popcorn Kernel- Boy Scouts  :  Oversees the annual fundraiser for scouts to have the resources needed to attend camp and other exciting programs during the year. Key duty is to encourage parents and scouts to ask friends, family and church members to support their Boy Scout Program. The Kernel collects proceeds and turns in the funds to the local council. All parents are asked to assist in helping the Popcorn Kernels carry out their assignment which starts in Oct and ends in Dec.


Frequency of Service

We meet twice per month and the Boy Scout youth leaders will have a monthly planning meeting during the 1st Sunday of each month called the Patrol Leaders Council Meeting ( PLC ). The meeting should last no more than 30 minutes  immediately after the 8 AM service or 11 AM service as decided by the Senior Patrol Leader. 


Length of Service

Your commitment is needed up to 2 years at a time. We are a 10 month program taking the months of July and August off. We are mandated to have 2 deep adult leaders with youth at all scout meetings or outdoor functions. It is a 20 month commitment of 3 hours each month to make a tremendous positive impression on the life of a Boy Scout.
